“Remarkable” transformation at Coulsdon Sixth form College
Ofsted inspected Coulsdon Sixth Form College on the 26 and 27 November and declared the new college as "remarkable". In particular the inspectorate praises the "highly effective measures" that ensure excellent teaching, the "exemplary" behaviour of students and the "assiduous monitoring" of students' progress.
With regard to students’ results the report states “current indicators are that students’ results are likely to improve significantly this year.”
It is nine months since Executive Principal, Steve Oxlade, and his team arrived to take control of the sixth form college and now the changes that have taken place have been formally recognised by Ofsted.
Steve commented on the inspection report, “I’m extremely pleased that the dedication of our staff has been recognised and the students who attend our College are praised for their hard work and commitment. Now we move forward again to the next level with our ultimate goal to be the best College in the UK – nothing less is good enough.”
“We are the only sixth form in the whole of Croydon to offer a full A level programme as well as BTEC Level 3 qualifications which ensure that all our students can progress to university or to a great career.”
“We’re also just about to launch our Young Leaders of Tomorrow programme; this will create opportunities for the next generation of leaders in Croydon and South London to be educated and coached at the highest level, regardless of background – this is not for the wealthy, but it might be for those who would like to be!”
Steve continued, “I’m not sure how many people realise they have a jewel in the education crown on their doorstep at Coulsdon so we’re holding a series of Information Evenings in the coming months, just to let everyone see what Ofsted are talking about. I hope Year 10 and 11 students and their parents will come along to one of these – they will certainly be made very welcome if they do.”
Information evenings will be held between 5pm and 7pm on:
Thursday 30th January
Thursday 27th February

There will be a full Open Event between 5.30pm and 8pm on:
