BFI Film Academy success for College students

A Level Film Studies students Ben Ellis and Faris Khan have beaten off stiff competition to be among only 25 students offered places on Eastside Education’s BFI Film Academy 2017–18.

Working with leading industry professionals, students are given the opportunity to attend masterclasses and careers days, as well as making a short film in preparation for their Silver Arts Award – an accredited programme, encouraging artistic growth and the development of leadership skills in young people.

This is the fourth consecutive year that students from the College have been selected for Eastside Education’s programme. Previous participants are:

  • Edward Auld (2016–17)
  • Sebastien Black (2016–17)
  • Jess Wood (2015–16)
  • Alex Warnham(2015–16)
  • Lareb Nasem (2014–15)

Tom O’Neil also attended a residential of the BFI Film Academy run by Vivid Echo in 2016–17.

This year’s course runs until February 2018. Film Studies teacher Barrington Robinson commented: ‘We wish Ben and Faris every success on the course. They’ve done fantastically well to be selected and we’re looking forward to seeing the results of all their hard work.’
