Next Steps after Summer Results Day
Applied to university and got the grades
Offers for September of the current year
Students achieving the required grades will automatically be sent a letter from UCAS containing a reply slip, which should be returned immediately. It is not necessary to ring the university.
Students holding any other offers, made outside the UCAS system, should reject them as quickly as possible so that the place can be offered to another student.
Students wishing to withdraw (perhaps to re-apply the following year) should do so promptly, using the reply slip sent with the offer from UCAS.
Students who are uncertain about whether to accept an offer should phone the university as soon as possible. Please be aware that you will need your UCAS registration number and course code, and may be held in a queue for some time.
Deferred offers for next year
Students who have received a deferred offer (to start in +12 months) should act before 30th September and either:
- accept the place, or
- reject it in order to re-apply in the new round of applications
You cannot hold a deferred offer and submit a new application for the same year.
Students are not normally allowed to change university or college. UCAS expects students to either:
- accept the offer, or
- withdraw totally and re-apply the following year
However, if there is a good reason for not taking up an offer it is worth phoning the university and asking to be released.
Students are permitted to turn down a confirmed offer for an HND course:
- in favour of a combined insurance degree course
- in order to enter clearing

Keep in touch!
The staff at Coulsdon College hopes all students leave the College ‘on route to success’ and look forward to hearing about the achievements of their students – so… please keep in touch! You can sign up to our Alumni by visiting www.futurefirst.org.uk and register your details. Best of luck!
Students who did not apply for a place at university, with good A Level or BTEC Level 3 results can use the College’s UCAS APPLY system.
UCAS APPLY is an on-line method for submitting a UCAS application. Details of how to use it can be found in Coulsdon College’s Guide to Applying to University.
It is recommended that students apply as soon as possible and no later than mid-September.
Ex-students can apply to UCAS through the College. Details of how to do so can be found in Coulsdon College’s Guide to Applying to University.
