Course Content
Educational Experiences
In the first year of the course students will plan and run an event of their choice which will involve teamwork and creativity. In the second year students will take part in 30 hours of work experience in a business environment.
Progression
The BTEC Level 3 Business Extended Diploma is a course that meets the entry requirements for students who want to progress to higher education courses in business. It can also support students who want to progress directly into employment in either job roles in business or business management or Higher Apprenticeships in the business sector.
Entry Requirements & Assessment
Students wishing to do BTEC Level 3 courses, need to have (or expect to achieve) at least four GCSE passes at Grade 4 or above with English and Mathematics at 3 or better (and a satisfactory school reference) in order to be accepted on a BTEC Level 3 Programme.
A Merit or higher at BTEC Level 2 will be accepted instead of GCSEs.
Students will enjoy this course if they:
- Prefer coursework
- Like doing presentations and pitches
- Would like to develop an understanding of how businesses work
- Are able to complete independent research
Students should have a general interest in how businesses work. They should also be comfortable with ICT and enjoy group work, problem solving, presentations, working with numbers and meeting deadlines.
This course is assessed by coursework. Students will complete a total of thirteen units of which, seven are mandatory. The points achieved on each unit will be added together to form an overall grade.
The exam board for this course is Pearson BTEC.
