Thirty students from the College’s A Level and BTEC Business courses were given an insight into the accountancy profession with a visit from a qualified chartered accountant on Thursday 23rd November.

Adam Clark of Price Waterhouse Coopers began the afternoon with an interactive presentation explaining the work of PWC and demonstrating that accountancy is so much more than just accounts!

For those thinking of embarking on a career in accountancy, Adam described the range of schemes/employment routes offered by PWC and talked them through the application process. He also gave some invaluable advice on how to approach psychometric tests, group exercises and interviews.

The session concluded with an opportunity for a number of students to take part in one of PWC’s employability skills which helped them identify their individual strengths and development needs.

Business teacher Greg Walters summarised the afternoon by saying, “This was a fantastic opportunity for College students to gain a real insight into the world of accountancy. The advice Adam gave on areas such as interview technique was incredibly helpful, and will benefit them all, whichever career they ultimately choose to pursue.”
