Psychology

Psychology is the study of human behaviour and human experience.
Psychologists apply their theories and explanations to understand different areas of everyday life including events, treat mental health issues and improve education, employment and relationships.

 

Applied Psychology - BTEC Level 3

You will learn about the social, biological, cognitive and learning approaches in psychology. You will learn key studies and theories within psychology and apply knowledge to specific areas of society including aggression, consumer/employee behaviour and gender identity. You will also study research methods and complete a piece of coursework/research which will develop skills of  investigation, problem-solving, analysis and creative development.

Psychology - A Level

You will learn to understand and evaluate the main principles of various approaches in Psychology, including Cognitive, Biological, Social and Behaviourist explanations and how these can be applied to modern-day issues in society. This could include both clinical and forensic applications.

You will also be expected to discuss the issues and debates raised in these themes and provide empirical evidence to support their arguments, which will draw on the content taken throughout the course.
This is a new subject for most students, and therefore you must be prepared to learn a large number of new and complex concepts relatively quickly.
