English & Mathematics
English will refine your writing, speaking, and comprehension skills—essential for A-Level study, university, and your future career. Whether you’re aiming for a career in business, science, engineering, or even as a professional mathematician, Mathematics will be crucial in building the knowledge you need to succeed.
English Language - GCSE
You will explore a wide range of texts from the 19th, 20th, and 21st centuries, including literature, literary non-fiction, reviews, and journalism. You will develop the skills to critically evaluate and compare texts, as well as summarise and synthesise ideas and information.
English Language & Literature - A Level
If you love English but can’t choose between language and literature, this course is perfect for you. You will explore spoken language and language production while engaging with a diverse array of literary texts. Experience the best of both worlds in a single A Level.
English Literature - A Level
This course offers an in-depth study of literature while encouraging wider and independent reading. You’ll have the opportunity to attend theatre productions and view film adaptations of the texts you study. The curriculum is divided into four components: drama, prose, poetry, and coursework.
Mathematics - GCSE
This course is mandatory for students with a GCSE Maths Grade of 3 or lower. Your final grade will be determined by three written papers—two calculator papers and one non-calculator paper—each lasting 1.5 hours. Students can choose to sit the examinations in either November or June, with Edexcel Linear as the exam board.
Mathematics - A Level
You will study Pure Mathematics, Statistics, and Mechanics. Pure Mathematics builds on GCSE concepts like algebra, graphs, and trigonometry, while Mechanics explores forces acting on bodies and their resultant motions through modelling. Statistics focuses on data analysis, so you should be comfortable manipulating algebraic equations and enjoy interpreting graphs.
Further Mathematics - A Level
A-level Further Mathematics is an advanced course for students with a strong aptitude for mathematics, usually taken alongside A-level Mathematics. It explores more complex topics, such as complex numbers, matrices, advanced calculus, differential equations, and decision mathematics.
