Daniel Deefholts left Coulsdon College in the summer with A Levels in Government and Politics, Sociology and English Language and Literature. He has started at Goldsmiths University, London, studying for a degree in Politics and International Relations.

He has just returned from a trip to the US, as part of the Windsor Fellowship’s UK-US Youth Dialogue Programme. He stayed with a home stay family in Chicago, where he enjoyed learning about their humour, lifestyle and Baha’i beliefs.

In Chicago, Daniel was treated to a tour of the Mayor of Chicago offices, where he was given access to the Press and Conference Room. The photo shows him at the lectern from which major announcements are made the Mayor takes questions from the media. “This was a highlight of the trip for me,” explains Daniel.

Daniel found the level of social inequality and segregation, particularly between ethnic and cultural groups in Chicago surprising and it has given him much to think about on his arrival at University. He is looking for a paid internship back in the States next summer.
