Students from local secondary schools have today completed a Further Maths Masterclass, under the expert supervision of Coulsdon College specialist A Level Maths teachers. Seven students from schools such as de Stafford, Cheam High, Oasis Academy and St Mary’s spent the morning exploring a new A level topic, Complex Numbers, before using everything they learnt to put together a Tarsia Puzzle.
“The students were really well engaged, we were impressed with their performance and they achieved a lot in two hours,” enthused Head of Maths, Ashoke Nanayakkara. “We wish them well with their GCSE’s and we hope to see them again when they are considering their post 16 education.”

Hanna McFall, who is in year 10 at Oasis Academy Coulsdon said, “The Masterclass was really interesting. The instructions were clear so I was able to understand. The Tarsia Puzzle was challenging but fun. I’m thinking of studying A Level Maths, along with Geography and Psychology and will definitely consider coming to Coulsdon.”
