Upper Sixth A Level Graphic Design students visited the design department at Ikea Croydon on Thursday 19 September. The aim of the trip was to gather primary research for the Retail Project module of their course.

Students were treated to a tour of Ikea but from the eyes of the graphic designers, visual merchandisers and the interior designers who all work together to make Ikea as appealing to the consumer as possible.

Everyone was then set a task to make a mood board based on a room set and share their sketchbook work with the group. The staff were then able to offer constructive feedback about their work.

The student’s also photographed patterns and products to help with designs which they will develop in the next few weeks and go on to produce their own range of products.
