Coulsdon Sixth Form College has once again been graded ‘Good’ by Ofsted when they visited the College at the end of the Spring term.

The College which caters for over 1,000 students aged 16-19, specialises in a sixth form provision for students in the Croydon borough. With a broad range of subjects on offer, Ofsted were impressed with the quality of teaching and learning in all the lesson observations.

Head of College, Richard Beales, said: “We are delighted that the Ofsted inspection team recognised the strong commitment from all the staff, the managers, leaders and governors as well as the positive attitudes, progress and achievements of our students which led them to make their judgement that the College continues to be ‘good’.

He continued, “This is a great endorsement of the College’s aim to provide high quality education in a supportive environment. The success is down to the support from not just staff and students but also parents, the local community and local schools. We are proud of what the College and the students have achieved.”

The two day visit from a team of Ofsted inspectors was the first inspection since the College was judged to be good in April 2014 and the report from the inspectors highlights the effective work and progress that the College has made since that inspection.

They highlighted that the ‘leaders and managers at the College have worked effectively to ensure that learners continue to enjoy a good standard of education’ that ‘teachers and managers set high expectations for learners’ and ‘staff are strongly committed to support learners in having clear aspirations of what they want to achieve’.

Ofsted also reported on the proportion of students who are achieving their qualifications is high and since the last inspection these have continued to increase. You can read the full report here.
