As we approach the festive season in what has been a tough year, it is more important than ever to support our community. That is why Croydon College and Coulsdon Sixth Form College are delighted to be able to support CVA’s  ‘Communities Together At Christmas’ Campaign.

The aim of the campaign is to work with Croydon’s mutual-aid groups, foodbanks, faith groups, social prescribers and volunteers to prevent people from going hungry or isolated during the Christmas period. Christmas Day will bring a selection of vulnerable families together at CVA’s Resource Centre to collect food-hampers and presents for their children.

To help reach this goal, Croydon College and Coulsdon Sixth Form College are appealing for toiletry donations from staff and students to be able to make up 100 Toiletry Gift bags. Toiletry items can include:

  • Soaps
  • Shower gel
  • Deodorants
  • Body sprays
  • Toothpaste
  • Toothbrush
  • Sanitary pads /tampons
  • Mouthwash
  • Wipes

Please place your donations at the collection point by the Christmas tree by Monday 14 December.

On Thursday 3 December, CVA are hosting their own Christmas Switch On Event for vulnerable families who do not have the luxury of putting up their own Christmas decorations at home. CVA have also invited their partners of the Christmas Appeal to attend the event, and it is with great pleasure that Coulsdon Student Union Executives Abbigail Azirou (Student Union President), and Kiara Miller (Student Union Events and Communications Officer), have been asked to join CVA at the Resource Centre for the Switch On Event.

We’ve chosen to kick-start our appeal to staff and students on GivingTuesday, Tuesday 1 December 2020. GivingTuesday is a day where everyone, everywhere can do something to support the good causes that mean so much to them. It is a day to give back by supporting a cause close to your heart or doing something good for your local community or someone in need. However, it is important to donate items and support your local communities, not just on GivingTuesday, but throughout December.

Your donations will help the families CVA work with to overcome the stresses, strains and financial worries they’re facing during this time. You can also make a financial contribution on CVA’s LocalGiving page here.

You can also drop-off your donations directly to CVA, 82 London Road between 10am and 12pm Monday to Friday. For more information, please visit cva.org.uk.
