Dear Student
January Exams Cancelled
Today Croydon College has been running scheduled exams, in line with Department for Education policy, rather than cancel at very short notice when students have worked so hard for them. We are confident that we have all the necessary measures in place to enable students to take examinations safely.
We have now decided to cancel all further January exams, apart from the HE exams which can continue online. This is because the Department of Education has now announced that we are able to decide whether to go ahead with exams and in response to feedback from many of our students that they do not feel comfortable about coming into College in the current environment. We will work with the exam Awarding Bodies to either offer later opportunities for students to take exams, or to calculate grades using alternative methods.
It is not yet clear how grades will be awarded, but it is imperative that students fully engage with their learning: teachers will need assignments and evidence of progress to inform grades. We will be working very hard with students and will continue to do all that we can to minimise the impact of this disruption to their education. Online learning is available for all students in accordance with their timetables. In addition, those students who have a social worker, who are a looked after child, who have an Education, Health and Care Plan, or who do not have suitable access to online learning from home, may come into College to do their work.
If you have any queries please contact your tutor or teacher.
Thank you
