Law, Travel & TourismWhy did you come to Coulsdon College?
I started sixth form at Riddlesdown Collegiate, doing three A Levels, but didn’t do very well. When I came for my interview at Coulsdon College, I was advised to study for BTEC qualifications, which are the equivalent to A Levels. It was absolutely the right advice for me. I’m managing the work really well and have surprised myself with the grades I’ve been achieving. The supportive environment has helped me to re-build my confidence.
What do you think has made the difference?
As well as being supported by very enthusiastic teachers, I have found the more practical aspects of the courses to be more suitable for my learning style. I work better with continual assessment, rather than everything depending on an exam at the end of the year.
Do you have an idea of what you would like to do after College?
I want to study Law and then train to become a solicitor working in Criminal Law. I would like to go to Birmingham or Westminster University.
What would you say to anybody thinking about coming to Coulsdon College to study?
I would say to come here without hesitation. You’re treated like an adult, given freedom to take responsibility, but at the same time, you’re offered lots of support.
