Students studying on the BTEC Health and Social Care course went on a trip to the Nursing and Midwifery Tribunal on 17 March.
The purpose of the trip was to allow students to gain an understanding of the application of the code of conduct for health care professionals, its importance and the repercussions of not following the code of conduct. The students sat in on a hearing of an adult nurse who had been charged with gross misconduct.
Teacher of Health and Social Care, Puneet Loyal commented: “Students gained real life experience of the application of the code and helped them relate theory to practice. It was very worthwhile.”
