Coulsdon Sixth Form College have once again been recognised as providing outstanding education as student Oscar Quigley makes the final for Student of the Year 2018 at the national BTEC Awards.

A handful of students around the country have made the final selection and the College are really pleased that Oscar is following in the footsteps of student Laura Smith, who won Student of the Year 2017. Laura has gone on to pursue a career in Travel & Tourism, recently securing a place on British Airways Cabin Crew training programme.

It will be a nerve racking wait for Oscar and his teachers while they wait to hear the results. Everyone at Coulsdon Sixth Form College wish him luck.

Oscar Quigley commented:

‘I was amazed to hear that I am being considered for this award. Taking this BTEC at Coulsdon College, I have learned so much about the travel and tourism industry. So far all the information I have learnt on the course has definitely broadened my horizon about the industry itself.

Last June I started working at No1 Lounge Gatwick Airport on a part time basis. This valuable experience I am gaining will be transferable into a customer facing position for an airline in the future.’

Teacher Donna Hollick commented:

‘Oscar is an outstanding learner due to his results and the time and effort he puts into his learning. Learning doesn’t always come easy to Oscar, but he tries so hard and puts maximum effort into everything he approaches resulting in outstanding results. Oscar is always so full of enthusiasm for learning and his enthusiasm has a very positive effect on his peers.’
