On Monday 17th September, Graphic Design students from Coulsdon Sixth Form College had a very successful trip to Ikea in support of their ‘Retail Project’.

They were shown around the shop floor by members of the in-house design team. Then set a task in groups to create a mood board in the ‘Hub’ area. Here they could play with colour, décor and props to add to the final designs. The Ikea team gave feedback on the designs and discussed their ideas. The students can now take what they have learnt and translate it into their projects which are part of their A Level Graphic Design course.

Ikea have welcomed us for a few years now and we look forward to continuing this connection. It is important the students get industry specific advice and support as it sets them up for the workplace, and opens their creativity to new ideas.
