On Thursday 18th May upper sixth BTEC Performing Arts students performed their final showcase to a packed audience in the College’s Bonsier Theatre.

The show called A Night to Entertain included songs from some of the most popular musicals including: Les Miserables, Hairspray, Sweeney Todd, Wicked and Little Shop of Horrors and featured dancing which was entirely choreographed by the students.

The group who were coached by Steve Denton, Performing Arts Teacher, have been working on their performances since January.  Each student had to present a solo piece and there were some outstanding performances from Martha Okasali, Tom Slade and Jessica Hann.

Dance captain Jessica Hann who choreographed the finale You can’t stop the beat comments, “It was nerve wracking knowing our performances were being assessed and would count towards our final course grade. All our practice paid off though and the show went very smoothly. I really enjoyed it, the thrill of performing was exhilarating”.

Jessica who’s studying  BTEC in Performing Arts and A Level English Language and Literature, attended Oasis Academy Coulsdon before joining Coulsdon.  She hopes to use the skills she’s learnt to work in theatre production after attending university in London to study English and Drama.

Thanks go to the Keith Amure, Performing Arts Technician who managed the lighting, sound and set and Steve Denton who directed the show.
