The College is delighted to announce that this year’s Lower Sixth students have signed up for the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award in record numbers.

Following an introductory talk about the scheme by the College’s Duke of Edinburgh Award co-ordinator Greg Saunders, students are now busy working towards the various sections. Preparation for their expeditions – one of the highlights of the programme – will begin in the spring.

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is recognised throughout the world as the leading youth achievement scheme for 14-25 year-olds. Comprising four complementary sections – volunteering, skills, physical and expedition – it gives participants the opportunity to develop their own interests and skills, and is highly regarded by employers and universities alike.

Greg Saunders commented on this year’s take up: ‘The fact that so many College students have chosen to take part in the scheme demonstrates their strong commitment and engagement with extra-curricular activities. I am sure they will all find it a thoroughly worthwhile experience.’
