Law, Public ServicesWhat do you like about College?
The atmosphere is completely different to school. There’s less drama, people are very respectful and I feel very safe here. The teachers treat you like equals and the students are friendly and supportive of each other.
How do you find the commute to College?
I catch a tram and bus to get to College from Croydon, but I use the travelling time to catch up with friends or just relax, so it’s fine.
What’s your favourite subject?
Public Services is definitely my favourite. I particularly enjoy the physical and practical elements of the course like the fitness testing. The course has opened my eyes to what’s going on in the world and how democracy works. Particularly interesting was a visit from our local MP, Gavin Barwell, who talked about his job, the role of the Government and the state of the economy. I’m enjoying Law too. It fits well with Public Services and the knowledge I’ve gained will be very useful in the future, whatever profession I go in to.
Are you considering a career in the Armed Forces?
I’m not sure yet. I’m part of Croydon 146 Detachment, Croydon Army cadets, which is part of the Royal Logistics Corps. I feel very proud to wear my uniform at important events such as Remembrance Day, when we marched through Croydon and also at the Remembrance Day event at College. I helped out at the London Marathon as a cadet and am looking forward to going on camp.
