How have you found your time at Coulsdon College?

This is my third year and it’s gone so quickly. Coming to Coulsdon has given me the opportunity to turn things around and I’m very happy here. I joined on the Intermediate Programme as I had to re-take some of my GCSEs.

What else did you study when you first came to College?

I did Level 2 Business and Media. The skills I gained on these courses were really useful as I progressed onto the Level 3 Advanced programme. I particularly enjoyed the Dragon’s Den project which I undertook for Business; it taught me entrepreneurial skills and developed my confidence.

What are you planning to study at university?

I’ve been offered a place at Canterbury Christchurch to study BA in Tourism Management. My courses have been brilliant preparation for this. I’ve had practice interviews with EasyJet cabin crew and with No 1 Lounge, Gatwick Airport, as well as project experience planning and executing a group trip to Spain. We had to research, plan, book the trip and evaluate it afterwards, which really helped improve my organisation and presentation skills.

What would you say to other students considering Coulsdon?

I really recommend it – coming here has been great for me. My teachers have been very good, providing extra workshops to help me achieve my goals. The Careers Department even spent time with me during the holidays, advising me on my personal statement for university. My predicted grades are very good and I’m on my way to securing a career in the travel industry – something I daren’t dream of when I first came here.
