Brandon
Business, SportWhat are your long term plans?
I want to work in Sports Management, possibly in Marketing, so I’m going to Bournemouth University to study a four year degree course in Sports Management. I’ve been offered an unconditional place, but I’m not taking my foot off the pedal as I want to get good grades. If I get the equivalent of three As, I’ll be given an Academic Scholarship which will help me with the fees. It’s well within my sights.
What’s your favourite subject and why?
I love the connection between Sport and Business, so both my courses have worked well for me and BTECs suit me as I enjoy coursework. One of the visiting speakers to College was David Dein, Former Chairman of Arsenal Football Club. He was really inspiring and encouraged us to have courage and work hard to achieve our goals.
What’s your biggest achievement since coming to Coulsdon College?
As part of my course I led a Dragon’s Den style presentation of a business idea to over 50 people, including business and community professionals. I then went on to deliver a business presentation as part of my involvement with NCS The Challenge. So, I know that making presentations doesn’t phase me, which will be really useful in my future career.
How has the College supported you?
The Learning Improvement Programme has helped me keep up-to-date with my coursework and I’ve learnt how to be more disciplined. Plus Careers staff have helped me with my uni applications and student finance which I would otherwise have struggled with.
