Computing & IT, ScienceWhy did you decide to study at Coulsdon College?
I wanted to go somewhere new and distant from home, so that I could get used to travelling to study. I’ve had to get used to getting up a lot earlier, but it’s worth it to come to this College.
You’re studying Medical Science, what does that involve?
It’s a mixture of Biology, Physics and Chemistry, but includes other sciences too, such as Psychology and Environmental sciences. I really enjoyed sciences at GCSE level, but I knew that I wanted to do more practical experiments and research, so the BTEC is perfect for me. I would say it’s an academic course and you have to be really focussed to get through the work as there’s a lot of it. We work in small groups and I’m really lucky that all my fellow students have the same attitude to their studies as I do, so we get on well.
What are the lab facilities like?
They are excellent. Clean, safe and well-equipped. We have the support of qualified technicians, who help to set up and supervise all the experiments.
Your results are outstanding, so you must be working hard.
Yes, I’m working hard. The teachers here are all really good in their respective fields and they bring a really positive vibe into the classroom. They put so much into their lessons that you feel like you want to do well for their sake, as well as your own.
What’s the highlight of your time at College?
Apart from getting great results and meeting new people, it has to be beating the Staff basketball team twice!
