Geography, Mathematics, MusicHow did you decide to come to Coulsdon?
I initially joined a local school’s Sixth Form, but didn’t get on very well there. When I came to Coulsdon College, I was struck by how welcoming it was and I quickly settled in. The standard of teaching is excellent and the workshops for every subject have really helped ensure I’ve properly understood the topics as well as giving plenty of practice on exam questions.
How has the College helped broaden your horizons?
I’m in the Enhancement Group and this has given me so many opportunities to explore possible career paths. As well as providing information about university taster days and summer schools, my tutor has encouraged me to apply to the Goldsmiths Progression Scheme. This six-month course has provided me with a whole wealth of new skills which will be useful in the future.
What are you hoping to study at university?
I’ve really enjoyed the physical geography part of my Geography A Level, particularly tectonics, so I want to study Environmental Geoscience with a view to working in Conservation. The Geography fieldtrips are definitely a highlight, providing an opportunity to do some fieldwork on regeneration and erosion and hopefully provide ideas for an Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) which I’ll take next year.
