Luke
Business, Music, Public ServicesWhere did your love of music start?
It’s in my blood; I’m the fifth generation of my family to be a musician and play in a Salvation Army band.
What instruments do you play?
I play piano and trumpet, but my main instrument is cornet. I’m working towards my Grade 8, fitting all my practice around performances.
Have you enjoyed studying BTEC Music?
Yes. The music facilities at College are excellent and I’ve had lots of opportunities to perform at events. I’ve met so many talented musicians at College, there’s a great buzz and team work between the students. We use Mac Logic Pro software for recording and editing our ideas which is great for composition work.
What is your outstanding memory from your time at College?
Playing the Last Post at the Remembrance Day service in the Atrium was a proud moment.
How has the College supported you with your GCSE re-takes?
I failed both English and Maths GCSE at school but I think the combination of the excellent teaching and support helped me pass both subjects in my Lower Sixth.
What are you plans for the future?
Long term, I may join the Police Force, but in the meantime, I’m looking to secure an Apprenticeship, possibly in the public sector or a bank.
Luke, 2017.
