How are you finding College life?

I love it here. The atmosphere is lively and inclusive and I’ve made so many great friends. Lessons are better too as students are more mature than at school; everyone wants to be here, so it’s easier to focus on your work. Sport is my favourite subject. I’ve particularly enjoyed the fitness testing classes, learning about BMI, blood pressure and lung capacity. The human biology parts of Biology A Level have been interesting too and link well to the Sports course.

You’re a sprinter, so how do you fit in your College work?

I have to be really organised, making sure my BTEC coursework is up to date and I’m on top of my course reading and assignments. At exam time it will help that I will only have exams to sit for Biology and Psychology A Levels.

Where do you train?

I’ve been training with Herne Hill Harriers Athletics Club for the past four years. The coach, who works with England Internationals, spotted me running for the county and suggested I join his squad. I train three or four times a week, combining general fitness training with biomechanics, strength development, sprint speed and speed endurance. It’s hard work, but I’m very motivated and enjoy the challenge.

What are your plans for the future?

I would love to be a Sports Physiotherapist.

What would you say to anybody considering Coulsdon College?

I would say the facilities are great, but it’s the people that really make it amazing. The students are friendly and the staff are so supportive.
