You’re doing a mixture of A Level and BTEC Qualifications?

Yes, I’m doing A Level Computer Science, combined with BTEC in IT. Having done really well with my GCSE’s, I started doing three A Levels, but I was finding it hard to memorise the quantity of information I needed for the exams.

What kind of advice have you received from the College?

The problem was picked up really quickly and I was advised to continue with one A Level, but combine it with an Extended Diploma in IT.

Is this a better balance?

Yes. The combination is working really well as I’ve now got more time to focus on the one A Level, whilst completing all the coursework for my BTEC. So far I have gained Distinctions for all my units. I’m hoping to get an A in my A Level Computer Science and this should be possible now that I have more time to dedicate to it.

What are your plans after College?

I’m hoping to go to either Bath or Surrey University to do Games Design or Computer Science. The College took us on a trip to the UCAS Open Day at Surrey University and it was great to be able to get so much information on all the courses which are on offer.

Have you learnt any new skills since starting at College?

I had a go at Archery and surprised myself by really enjoying it. It was great for team working and I’m hoping to continue and improve.
