Professional table tennis star Darius Knight visited Coulsdon College at the end of March to inspire students on the Fulham FC Foundation Football & Education Programme.

The 26 year old professional table tennis player from London, started competing internationally when he was only 16.  He was a silver medallist in the Commonwealth Games in 2010 and was part of the GB squad and a torch bearer for London 2012 Olympics.

Currently ranked 5th in Britain, Darius enjoyed sharing his passion for the sport and inspired students at the College with his motivational talk and workshop.  As well as hearing from Darius about his experience developing a sports career, the group received some table tennis coaching and got to play against the star.

The visit was organised as part of the Fulham FC Foundation Football & Education Programme, which offers academic support and professional coaching to 30 talented young footballers at Coulsdon.

Jason Henry, Head Coach with Fulham said “Darius’s combination of self motivation, determination and self belief really inspired the students; hearing from a great sportsman gave them an insight into the sporting world and what qualities you need to succeed.”
