Why did you apply to Coulsdon Sixth Form College?

When I came and visited the College, I was instantly attracted to the modern facilities as it provided such a welcoming feeling for me. I also loved how the students are treated like adults and given so much independence by all teachers.

You’re taking part in the ParaCheer competition in the USA. What does this involve?

At the beginning of 2019, I trialled for Team England Paracheer, which is the national adaptive abilities team. Once I successfully got into the team, I started training every other weekend with people all over the country all with different disabilities. I decided to take part as it provided me with a new challenge that helps develop my teamwork skills and performance abilities. The cheerleading World Championships are held annually in Florida, where teams from across the world compete. My current team are the reigning World Champions so we are hoping to achieve that title again this year!

How has the support been at Coulsdon Sixth Form?

I have personally found the support great here. I like that we have smaller classes than most colleges as it means teachers can take the time to help students and answer questions. The workshops that are used for our tests are really helpful as it means we get as much lesson time as possible.

What have you enjoyed most about your time here?

I have enjoyed meeting all my friends as I came to Coulsdon Sixth Form College not knowing anyone, but I quickly found a whole new friendship group. I also enjoy having lots of responsibility and independence.

What would you like to do after you finish your studies here?

After I finish my studies, I want to go on to study civil engineering. I’ve already had some work experience at a local civil engineering company but I’m currently considering to go on to study in America.

Do you have any advice for students looking to study here?

If you ever find yourself struggling with lesson content, don’t be afraid to talk to your teachers as they will take the time to help you. Also, make use of the ILC as it’s such a great facility that allows you to complete your work independently and peacefully.
