BTEC Certificate in Health & Social Care L2
This course gives students the opportunity to gain knowledge and understanding of Health and Social Care and to develop skills in the sector. It also gives students the potential opportunity to gain employment within the Health and Social Care
sector. Successful completion of the course can lead to progression on to the BTEC Level 3 Health and Social Care course and/ or employment or an apprenticeship.
This course is designed as an introductory program for students interested in pursuing careers in Health and Social Services. The topics covered include Communication, Individual Rights, Cultural Diversity, Human Body systems and Human Lifespan Development. Students have the opportunity to enhance their learning through work experience in a care setting of their choice.
Five GCSEs which include: Three GCSEs grade 9-3, an additional two GCSEs grade 9-2 and a satisfactory school
reference. Including English Language at grade 2 and maths at grade 2 as a minimum. Equivalent qualifications will be
considered.You will need a satisfactory school reference.
This exciting course provides students with the opportunity to develop a broad understanding of the Health and Social Care sector while building the practical skills, knowledge and behaviours needed for future study and employment. Students will explore a range of topics, including health and wellbeing, effective communication, equality and diversity, and working with individuals across the lifespan.
The course is ideal for those interested in pursuing a career in health, social care or related professions. It offers valuable insight into the sector and helps students develop transferable skills such as teamwork, problem-solving, organisation and communication.
Successful completion of the qualification can lead to progression onto the BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care, apprenticeships, or employment opportunities within the Health and Social Care sector. It also provides an excellent foundation for careers in nursing, social work, childcare, healthcare support, and other caring professions.
This course is assessed through a combination of coursework and external examinations. There will be 2 exams and 4 coursework components. Students will develop their analytical skills through self-analysis, which will be beneficial for those considering further studies in Health and Social Care at BTEC Level 3. The exam board for this course is Pearson BTEC.
