NCFE Diploma in Sport L2
This one-year course is ideal for students who are interested in sport, fitness and physical activity and are considering a future career in the sports industry. Students will develop both their theoretical knowledge and practical skills through units including participating in sport, anatomy and physiology for exercise, healthy exercise and nutrition, sports coaching, sports psychology, work experience in sport, and factors affecting participation in sport and physical activity.

Four GCSEs grade 9-3 and a satisfactory school reference. Including English Language at grade 2 and maths at grade 2
as a minimum.
The primary objectives of these qualifications are to equip learners with the foundational skills and knowledge required to embark on a career in sport or progress within the sector, as well as to prepare them for higher or further education through full-time study.
The qualifications aim to help learners:
- Select a pathway and units that align with their career or academic aspirations
- Enter employment in the sport and active leisure sector or progress to higher or further education, including Level 3 Sport qualifications
- Acquire and enhance essential skills valued by employers and higher and further education institutions
- Develop knowledge and understanding of the vocational sector
Successful completion of the course can lead to progression onto the BTEC Level 3 Sport at Coulsdon College, higher-level apprenticeships, or further study and employment within the sport and active leisure sector. This qualification provides an excellent foundation for students looking to continue their sporting education and pursue a career within the industry.
Assessment is primarily through coursework and practical activities, allowing students to apply their learning in realistic sporting contexts while developing valuable skills in communication, teamwork, leadership and performance analysis.
